Affordable, awesome, multiple uses March 22, 2010 Mother on the Brink (Suburbs, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We love this pan! We bought two of them at the same time, as part of our entry into the world of cast iron. I cooked with cast iron as a young adult and had bad memories of making mistakes using soap, etc. So I was a bit leery about trying again. But multiple failed non-stick things made me willing to try again. I won't say all the non-stick is out of the kitchen - for the moment, I still prefer it for scrambled eggs, or things that need to be browned and then steamed).
Why do you want this?
*predictable pancakes
*home-made pizza!
Even if you've never dared before, you can do it now with confidence. I buy my dough, flour up the bottom of the pan, press in the dough, add sauce, cheese and toppings, and have a wonderful small pizza 20 minutes later. We make two pans' worth which is enough for two adults and two kids with some leftover.
Best of all: the next morning, you can take your pizza pan and use it to cook hash browns on the stove top - show me a pizza stone that costs $13 that can do that!
Heavy? Yes. But we knew that. This is a great entry piece if you are unsure about cast-iron. If you don't like it, you're out very little money and you can always find a willing taker for such an excellent piece of cookware.
Nice Pan March 9, 2010 Daria (Grand Rapids, MI USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I took another reviewer's advice & wet-sanded this griddle with 800 grit paper to make it extra smooth & then re-seasoned it. It has made fabulous grilled sandwiches, french toast, eggs and pancakes. It seems to work a bit better than my (very) old cast iron skillet I think due to that fact that it's a little thicker. Highly recommend this product. I LOVE cooking on cast iron.
Takes getting used to if you have non-stick cookware March 4, 2010 J. Preece (Sacramento, CA United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought two pieces of Logic cast-iron cookware for my wife as she had been talking about getting them for quite a while. Based on the reviews and the price I thought it'd be hard to go wrong.
Initially, even though we closely followed the instructions (no soap, oil after every use, etc) we found food stuck to the iron very, very easily. In fact, the first couple times we used them we nearly gave up because they were so difficult to cook with and clean. For example, we fried a couple of eggs and about half of the eggs remained glued to the cooking surface.
We decided to buy a can of PAM non-stick spray and that helped A LOT. Even though we continue to keep them well-oiled while they are in the cabinet and clean with a 3M abrasive pad, we now use PAM before we cook and we've had much better luck.
The best thing I can tell about cast-iron is the heat conductivity and evenness. They get hot very quickly and hold heat for a long time. And for the price they are a steal. But you really gotta be patient the first few times you use them and I *highly* recommend a non-stick spray. It makes cooking and clean-up so much easier!
Good for Indian bread and south Indian Cooking March 2, 2010 L. GANDHAM (USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a good size round griddle to make fresh Indian breads like Chapathi, Roti and Parata. Also very good for Dosa and other south Indian cooking. Doesn't require lot of oil but definitely you need to grease it for Omlets and Dosas. Works very well on induction stove top too. Heats up fast and is very hot than non stick pans.
I Love this Griddle! February 7, 2010 Robert O. Cunningahm (San Francisco) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
