Comfortable and useful March 28, 2010

Bought this as my first harness (I never buy cheapest as I don't trust "cheapest" to have good quality) when I started gym climbing 6 months ago. I knew I'd be climbing a lot, and wanted something comfortable and useful as I moved to sport climbing when the snow melted. When in the gym working on a hard route, I have no problem falling on it or hanging for a rest. When working harder problems or lead climbing on overhangs, no problem with leg movement. Went outside 2x so far and found the loops well placed and useful. The buckles snug down well and don't get loose. This may be due to the time I spent ensuring proper fit (bought via a local store, not this site). Be sure to measure and know sizing to ensure comfort and safety.

I'm pretty slim and this 'medium' barely fits around my waist. Just a warning. A fine product for me otherwise.

I bought this harness after recently getting into indoor climbing and getting tired of the rental harnesses (it didn't take long). I really love it -- it's lightweight, extremely strong, and reasonably comfortable when I'm hanging from it, trying to get my grip back on the wall after coming off. The fit is good, the padding is comfortable, and the gear loops are quite strong. I recently brought my camera with me to the gym and wanted some photos of friends climbing the walls. I lashed my camera to one of the gear loops and climbed to the top of an adjacent wall to get pictures. The camera is a Canon EOS 5D Mk II with vertical grip and 24-105 f/4L lens - several pounds worth of camera hanging from the harness and gear loop. No problems!
There's also a strong fabric rear loop that I'm hanging my chalk bag from, equidistant to both arms.
So it's a comfortable, strong harness. Surely strong enough to handle my 185-lb * 9.8m/s^2. :-) And I fall a lot, so it's been tested!
I bought the women's "Primrose AL" version for my girlfriend, which she loves just as much as I love mine.

The previous 1-star review (which seems to be more about policy than product anyway) mentions that it's not well made. I couldn't disagree more. It's solid as a rock. Take it from someone who falls a lot. :-)

I have written this company twice relative to my disatisfaction with this harness. I is not al all what I expected. Very light weight and not very strongly made. They have not responded, but I notice that they state in their shippping notice that the do not take returns on climbing gear. Too bad they did not say that in their Amazon narative. Buyer beware!
