Makes walking on ice possible July 8, 2010 2burmese (Vermont USA) I adore the Kahtoola Mircrospikes. They make walking on ice safe and comfortable. I love Vermont winters and don't like to give up my daily walking due to the dangers of slipping and falling on ice. Thanks to the Kahtoola Microspikes I don't have to! They are a far, far superior product to the flimsy YakTrax-or anything else-I've tried. I've had my original pair for 3 long Vermont winters and they are still going strong despite hard use. Walking is comfortable and I can keep up a brisk pace up and down steep hills and not worry about falling. Amazing, sturdy product well worth the price.
These work great! March 27, 2010 Mary L. Owen (Ogden, UT USA) I love these things! They really work great on my snow and ice packed trails here in the Wasatch Mountains of Northern Utah. I even jogged downhill in them and never slipped once!
The best ever....... February 24, 2010 Robert Pigford These are the best spikes ever. Far superior to the Yak-trax pro. These are a life saver, especially for a very active person from Colorado. I walk dogs with these on a snow packed dirt trail and motivate with ease. These things are incredible. They install in seconds and can be taken off just as easy. Take my word for it. Try these and you will never look back !
A must have! January 17, 2010 James M. Moats (Southern California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I tested these out today on the snow/ice from 6000-8000 feet on a fairly steep trail. I had absolutely no problem having traction. Also, on the way down, I let my friend use them and he passed over a patch of ice with no problems; I fell on my butt! I advise anyone who wants more traction in winter weather to get these.

I actually bought this product at an REI and it looks like it's a few bucks cheaper here. I have to say though, that as a novice hiker, I have gotten tons of use out of these. It's worth getting the more durable material you find on these crampons so you only have to buy them once and so you're not stuck out on the trail with a busted strap, as I keep seeing other hikers ending up with here in the Colorado Rockies. These beauties help on snow, ice, loose pebbles and even up and down bare rock! I can't believe how much easier my hiking has gotten and how much more quickly my endurance is improving now that I'm concerning myself more with getting to the next rise rather than not slippng and falling. The reason I'm giving a 4 instead of a 5 is that they are a tad difficult to figure out at first. This is probably just because I'm new to the whole hiking scene and I'm sure a more experienced person would have no problem with them, but the instructions could be a little more clear I think. Even after the girl at the store showed us how to put them on, it still took about 15 minutes the first few times of just messing around with them before I got them on right. In fact, the first time, I was about to throw them back in the car when they just magically popped onto my boot the right way. It does get easier though, and they're so so so worth it.
